Moment Of Impact
MTFD.bmp
A red sheen brims over the white paint of a crushed sedan. The air is punctuated by the slurring words of a man bellowing his innocence as police snap silvery handcuffs about his wrists. A more plaintive cry for help is heard among the wailing of sirens and the pop and snap of the Jaws of Life prying open a crumpled car door.

Massive Multi-Agency Search Yields Big Results msfopic1.bmp

As the rust colored doors swung open there was a sharp chemical waft and dozens of white metal barrels appear in the cargo container as sunlight spills in. Coast Guard Marches to the Beat of the Irish Bodhran
 stpadpic01.bmp
The sound of the bodhran drum resonates off the buildings down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan Mar. 17th. The sweet wail of the bagpipes helps the marchers count each step and matches them with the beat. For the first time, Coast Guard Sector New York personnel marched in the parade. From the sound of the crowd, it was obvious they were recognized and well received.

Just before fifty high school students from Kentucky steered their way up the Hudson River toward a eighteenth century military post, they marched down the pier in near-perfect formation and joined the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Sturgeon Bay at its homeport in Bayonne, N.J. It was a first time for many of them to board a 140-foot Coast Guard vessel.

Trout marinated in grape jelly and marshmallow puree smothered sole aren't dishes you would usually eat aboard Coast Guard cutters, but these were just a few of the plates served up on the Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba on February 1, 2008.

THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE

 SLIN.bmp

When Shaun Lin stepped up to the table for his last arm wrestling match of the evening it smelled like Icy Hot and sweat.  He looked calm.  It was his final bout of the evening at the Golden Arms Championship last November. More than 50 of the top amateur arm wrestlers gathered in the east lobby of the Port Authority building in New York City.
