NEW YORK - A Carnival Lines cruise ship, CARNIVAL VICTORY, hit a parking structure at Pier 92 in Manhattan at approximately 7:15 a.m. today.

While repositioning the vessel, which was carrying over 4,300 people, the 895-foot vessel allided with the parking garage causing superficial damage to the ships' bow spray shield.

The repairs to the pier structure will be completed as a routine construction project.

There are no reports of injuries or pollution.

"Safety of the public always comes first for the Coast Guard," Said Lt. j.g. Kathryn Campagnini, Sector New York's command duty officer. "Ensuring vessels are seaworthy and pose no danger to their occupants is the main goal of Coast Guard investigators."

Coast Guard investigators are on-scene and an investigation is pending.
