COAST GUARD TO HOST GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY The ground breaking ceremony is for a $10 million command building including a state of the art command center which will provide command and control for all Coast Guard activities in Long Island Sound, as well as the south shore and offshore waters of Long Island. This new facility, which is scheduled to be occupied in the summer of 2008, will also serve as a multi-agency command post for special events and emergencies in the region. Where: Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound, 120 Woodward Ave. Please call (617) 223-8518 to confirm you attendance. Media are requested to arrive and set up between 12:45 p.m. and 13:15 p.m. the day of the event. The Coast Guard’s Facilities Design and Construction Center Atlantic has contracted with, Ames and Whitaker Architects of Waterbury, CT to design the new building and Diversified Technology Consultants of North Haven, CT to build new facility. Construction is scheduled to begin November 2006.
