Update 4: Coast Guard lifts night restrictions on Houston Ship Channel |
|
|
HOUSTON - The Coast Guard Captain of the Port of Houston-Galveston has opened the Houston Ship Channel 24 hours a day with the following restrictions: From the Sea Buoy to Sims Bayou the channel is open to all vessel transits up to project depth. From Sims Bayou to the Houston Ship Channel Turning Basin the channel is open day and night to transits for vessels with drafts of 34 feet or less. Mariners are advised that aids to navigation may be off station and it is recommended to use extreme caution when transiting through the area. Local, state and federal agencies are continuing to survey all COTP navigable waterways impacted by Hurricane Ike. All facilities are recommended to complete the facility self-assessment check list prior to requesting a Coast Guard facility inspection. ### Saving Lives and Guarding the Coast Since 1790. |
