Earlier today, Coast Guard and Air Force helicopter crews attempted to remove the 22 crewmembers from the vessel, but were unable to do so due to the dangerous 80-knot winds and heavy seas.

The Coast Guard is maintianing hourly communications with the vessel's crew, and will continue to monitor the situation through the night.
